SIDE RANT: To all other city dwellers and residents of areas with over-zealous parking authorities – I hope you can sympathize with the pain the Pittsburgh Parking Authority has caused me.
First: Please, please, PLEASE, someone enlighten me as to whether or not you have ever witnessed a street cleaner coming down a city street. I believe I have received more tickets for ‘illegally’ parking on street cleaning days than number of times the thing has been down my street. (I actually plan to investigate this further).
Anyway, here is the sign on my street.
Last Monday (August 3rd, the first Monday of the month), as I left for work, I saw the sign and made the decision to drive to work, in order to avoid another ticket.
Monday night after work, I arrived home late and parked on my street. I squeezed into a space at the end of my street I have parked in dozens of times.
Tuesday I took the bus to work. My car stayed parked on the street.
Imagine my surprise when I arrive home after work on Tuesday to find two tickets on my car. The first was for parking within 30 feet of a stop sign. Hmm. To be honest, I did not even know this rule. Additionally, street parking is just dog eat dog sometimes and one has to take what they can get. However, I can’t really argue this one and will just have to take one for the team. Sigh.
The second ticket looked like this. Please note the date and reason and reference my above reason for driving to work on Monday.
WTF. You best believe I will be fighting this. Stay tuned to learn the outcome of my fight against this nonsense.
Anyone else have any good parking stories?
