This past weekend, The Boy and I dove into more warm, yummy dishes.
Friday Night: Homemade lamb ragu over pasta
Saturday Night: Intimate, delicious dinner at Café Davio (Southside – review to follow at some point)
Sunday Night: Dinner at The Boy’s grandparents’ house – pasta with homemade sauce, meatballs, more lamb, pork, salad, an amazing chocolate cake – the whole meal is like one big hug:)
In this post, let me elaborate on that rich, warms you to core lamb ragu.
I must give credit to The Boy for this one. He makes a mean lamb ragu. We have played with the ratios of lamb/tomato/etc a few times in the past but chose to use this recipe on Friday night (minus the gnocchi). Any time we need lamb, we can sometimes find it at Giant Eagle and can always find it at Whole Foods. Friday, we went to Whole Foods.
The Boy prepped the lamb.
As the sauce cooked, The Boy and I munched some casual appetizers and sipped wine. This is my favorite part of cooking with The Boy. The wine 🙂
After finally watching The Office ‘wedding’ via DVR, dinner was ready.
The ragu was rich, meaty, and flavorful. The lamb was fork tender. To note, it wasn’t quite as ‘saucy’ as we expected. Perhaps we would add a bit more tomato next time. However, the flavor was amazing. I think this would also be heavenly over creamy polenta.
I couldn’t help but smile as I ate this. Mmmm.
